D.O.T.P ( DIOKTIL TEREFTALAT ) PLASTIC
DOTP is a terephthalate plasticizer, while DOP,DINP,DIDP are all orthophthalates.DOTP has very different structure than known 0rthophthalate plasticizers as DOP,DINP,DIDP.This branched structure of DOTP provides many perfect proporties to DOTP that can not be found in other plasticizers. For comparison, these two types of plasticizer are shown at below.Structural differences between terephthalate and orthophthalate plasticizer result in some perfect and unique properties of DOTP.
PLASTICIZER VOLATILITYPlasticizer volatility is one of the most important properties for a plasticizer. A plasticizer with more volatility easily to leaves and seperates from structure of plastisols and plastic materials and this case results undesired problems both while production stage and finished product in course of time.
Also a plasticizer with more volatility migrates from finished product rapidly. Plasticizer volatility is determined by heating samples in aluminum weighing pans at 177 C (350 F) for 24 hours . When at the right side table is examined it is seen that D.O.T.P is less volatile than 3 different most widely used plasticiers .(DOP ,DINP ,DIDP ) and this means the least loss in used plasticiers and the least loss in fusion ovens.
VOLATILITY OF PLASTICIZER DURING FUSIONVolatility of Plastisol (mixture of PVC and Plasticizer) during the fusion process is determined by percentage weight loss at various fusion temperatures
The table at right side expresses that DOTP is less volatile than other plasticizer during fusion process in fusion ovens, inaddition volatility level of DOP is nearly twicer than other plasticizer .
VISCOSITYViscosity of the plastisols is very important parameter in the production of PVC based plastics. In order to able to reach desired standarts ,viscosity of plastisol must be regulated before given to production.
Viscosity of plastisol which is prepared with ordinary plasticizer as DOP begins to change fastly in the course of time,therefore viscosity of the plastisol must be measured and regulated continuously, otherwise it causes great production decreases and damages.
The Viscosity curves of the plastisols that prepared with plasticizers are given near side table.Measurements have been done for 3 weeks period at 23 Centigrade.Formulas of plastisol are explained on the near side.
